We continue to explore aspects of philosophy using John Cottingham’s Anthology of Western Philosophy as a guide. Having considered ‘Beauty and Art’, ‘Human Life and its Meaning’ and ‘Mind and Body’, we then completed the section on ‘Language and Meaning’, referencing works by Descartes, Locke, Russell and Wittgenstein.
As usual, topics raise more questions than they give answers. We are now covering the section on ‘The Self and Freedom’, which includes extracts from Hume, Freud, Hobbes and Sartre.
