Our members have a range of backgrounds – some have worked professionally in a field of science or technology, whereas others are simply interested in the exciting and amazing world of science and technology.
We have lively discussions, videos, visits and talks on many diverse subjects that have held the group’s interest, such as: artificial intelligence; neural networks; the protein folding problem; quantum computing and nuclear fusion; NASA’s Orion spacecraft; new UK offshore wind projects; renewables; the Mars rover; toxoplasmosis in cats and people; aspects of forensic science; parasitic plants, illustrated with videos and photos taken locally; seed banks, with videos of the Kew Gardens and Svalbard facilities; electric cars; reducing methane from cows using seaweed; and the James Webb telescope.
Each subject or video lasts between 10 and 30 minutes and members all contribute as they see fit.
We welcome new members who have an interest in science and technology. We meet at each other’s homes so contact Richard for more information.
