We continue to explore aspects of philosophy using John Cottingham’s Anthology of Western Philosophy as a guide. Having considered ‘Problems in Ethics’, ‘Morality and the Good Life’ and ‘Science and Method’, we then completed the section on ‘Beauty and Art’, referencing works by Hume, Nietzsche, Tolstoy and Sartre.
As usual, topics raise more questions than they give answers. We are now covering the final section on ‘Human Life and its Meaning’, which includes extracts from Augustine, Montaigne, Nietschze and Camus. Meetings include presentations and lively discussions.
