Here is another opportunity for members to visit this Grade I-listed mansion which has hosted both Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, not to mention the cast and crew of hit BBC comedy Ghosts.
The one-and-a-half to two-hour guided tour of the manor house and gardens provides an unrivalled opportunity to learn more about its history. During the tour, we will explore the nooks and crannies of the house and delve into the fascinating lives of the many illustrious owners and visitors, as well as finding out more about the architectural history of the house. We will also receive a copy of Bamber Gascoigne’s book, West Horsley Place: A New Start.
Transport
In the present circumstances members will need to arrange their own transport, but some car sharing might be possible. If you have access needs, please let us know; there is some parking available in front of the house.
Coming by car, the postcode is KT24 6AN, reached from the A246 Guildford to Leatherhead road and lying between East and West Horsley. On this road, travelling towards Guildford you will pass a ‘Welcome to West Horsley’ sign. About 150 yards further on take a right on to the main drive through the wrought-iron gates. If you pass St Mary’s church on your left you will have gone too far. Follow the traffic signs to the car park and, once parked, follow pedestrian signs to walk from the car park to the manor house.
