We are all aware of the marvellous work done by the RNLI, and this is an opportunity to visit their headquarters in Poole.
As it’s a fairly long journey to Poole we will have a comfort and coffee stop en route and, on arrival at the RNLI College, we will be offered a two-course lunch with tea/coffee.
After lunch we will enjoy an RNLI College Discovery tour, which will inform us how its crews and lifeguards are trained behind the scenes. Training is fundamental to saving lives and, through this training, in 2016 volunteer lifeboat crews were able to save 431 lives and rescue 8,851 people. Last year RNLI lifeguards saved 127 lives and aided 20,538.
During the 90-minute guided tour you will have the chance to explore the RNLI College and its training facilities, including the world-class Sea Survival Centre, where the wave tank and lifeboat simulator will give you a really good idea of the conditions faced by volunteer crews when setting out to sea.
We plan to leave the RNLI at 4.30pm.
Cost: £55, including lunch, college tour and driver’s gratuity.
