Dorking & District u3a visit to Wisley Glow at RHS Wisley
Visiting the Wisley Glow event with Dorking u3a proved to be most enjoyable and thankfully, the weather was reasonably kind to us. After a short coach ride, we arrived at RHS Wisley where we were welcomed with a delicious cream tea before we embarked on a self guided, signposted, route around the wonderfully illuminated gardens. Those of us less able to walk had been able to book electric buggies in advance and great care was taken in instructions and safety procedures for their use. The displays were amazing with up lights and ground lights. Muted music enhanced the experience as we walked. Trees and shrubs were festooned with lights of many colours. We entered the hot house to find it similarly decorated although the change in temperature and humidity did cause our glasses to fog up. There were so many highlights, but perhaps the best were two huge, prancing, illuminated hares and musical fountains with flaming torches at the lily pond. It was quite a long walk, but such a magical experience.
