Austrian Lakes and Mountains

Itinerary
Day 1 Fly from Gatwick to Munich, then private coach to the hotel. Welcome drink on arrival. Rest of day at leisure before dinner in the evening
Day 2 Full-day excursion to Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart. Visit to the medieval Hohensalzburg fortress by funicular
Day 3 Full-day excursion to the three lakes of Mondsee, Attersee and Wolfgangsee, the most famous in the region, with dramatic mountain scenery. The nearby Baroque church was the setting for a scene in The Sound of Music
Day 4 Free day to explore Fuschl am See. Take advantage of the Salkammergut Card (included in the price) which gives discounts off local attractions
Day 5 Morning excursion to Hallstatt, one of the most beautiful villages in the Austrian Lake District, clinging to the slopes of the Dachstein foothills. The streets are narrow and steep but there are many viewing points above the town and many shops and cafés. Lake cruises are also available
Day 6 Full-day excursion to the ice caves in Werfen and Hohenwerfen fortress. Wrap up warm! These are the largest ice caves in the world. Continue to the castle, where the film Where Eagles Dare was made. Entrance included in the price
Day 7 Transfer to Munich for flight home
