Our sessions started in 2010 with the objective of enabling people to try out the sport and develop their skills as members of a friendly and supportive group, and that has certainly been the case.
Bowling is a friendly and sociable activity which provides useful non-strenuous exercise. It is an activity which you can learn to play sufficiently well to enjoy yourself quite quickly – but then spend a lifetime trying to improve!
In the summer months we meet weekly at Pippbrook Bowling Club, behind Mole Valley District Council offices in Dorking. For our winter season we meet fortnightly to play indoors at Horsham Indoor Bowls Centre, Broadbridge Heath.
You are very welcome to join us whether or not you have ever played bowls before – no special equipment is needed; just wear comfortable clothing and flat-soled shoes.
Here’s a great introduction to the game of bowls and Dorking u3a’s thriving summer and winter bowls groups (video shot and edited by Mike Giles)
