|Group leader||Pat Lucas|
|Meets||Fourth Wednesday of the month, 2-4pm|
|Venue||Small Chapel, United Reformed Church, West Street|
We started in April 2013 and are now a lively, enthusiastic group. We normally have 10 meetings (including two visits and two speakers) per year.
We have made good use of the DVDs from the U3A Resource Centre. Topics for our programme are taken from members’ suggestions and forthcoming exhibitions. During 2020, we kept in touch with emailed news of exhibitions with web links and members’ artistic endeavours, and recently started meeting on Zoom.
Our visits have included William Morris’s home, the Red House, the Matisse exhibition at Tate Modern and All Saints’ Chapel at Tudely, Kent, to view the Marc Chagall stained-glass windows.
Sessions have studied:
- the Spanish artist Joaquin Sorolla, making use of two short YouTube videos which give a good introduction: Life of the Artist: Sorolla and Sorolla in America
- and the Swedish artist Hilma af Klint, again using video, of the exhibition of her work at the Guggenheim (2018).
