Author and former inventions and patents specialist at the British Library Stephen van Dulken will give a talk entitled ‘Women Inventors: an Exploration in Technology and Social History’.
His talk is a light-hearted look at how many women were involved in the Victorian and Edwardian periods in patenting; what backgrounds they came from and what sorts of things they patented. Why were they less numerous than the men? And how did contemporary newspapers regard their efforts?
