This year sees the hundredth anniversary of the burial of our Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey on 11 November. It was immediately preceded by the unveiling of the permanent Cenotaph in Whitehall.
How did these two events arise and what were some of the challenges that had to be overcome to ensure an enduring addition to our remembrance culture? Could the Unknown Warrior be a Dorking man who had lived in Wathen Road?
Please join the Military History group Zoom talk, They buried him among kings. The story of the Unknown Warrior, on Tuesday 3 November at 10.30am for answers to these questions and to hear more about the background to this day of mourning that brought our nation together.
