The talk, by Tim Pritchard Barrett, ex-Welsh Guards, will consider the first month in the Franco-Prussian War: August 1870, a devastating month for France.
The French were led by Napoleon III, cousin of Napoleon Bonaparte, and the outcome saw a unification of German states to form modern day Germany, with France becoming a republic – all very relevant to the Europe we are familiar with today.
