This four-part review of military history will cover actions of famous military leaders, development of military medical services and the consequences of wars socially in Surrey. The final speaker will outline developments from the times of Catherine the Great to the present day.
All speakers have significant experience in their fields: Mike Fox is the U3A national subject adviser for Military History and leads a group for Banstead U3A. He writes a weekly column in the Surrey Mirror and has had more than 200 articles published in historical/service management magazines. Pete Starling MA DHMSA FRHistS served in the Royal Army Medical Corps and was curator/director of their Military Medical Services Museum. June Davey BEM is a professional academic historian and an experienced speaker on a wide range of periods in world history. David Williams is a retired chairman of an international engineering company who now travels the world studying military history and lecturing widely on cruise ships and at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
