The Seven Sisters chalk cliffs near Seaford in East Sussex
The South-east of England has some iconic landscapes, whether urban – St Paul’s in London or Brighton’s Palace Pier – or rural, as the Seven Sisters cliffs of East Sussex or the Surrey Hills. It has a National Park in the South Downs and many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty such as Ashdown Forest. This talk looks at examples of our regional landscapes, coast and country, urban and rural.
Our speaker, Dr Geoffrey Mead, is an associate tutor with the Geography team at the University of Sussex. He specialises in the landscapes of SE England, in both urban and rural areas, and did his doctorate in the suburban growth of the interwar period.
