The rooms are underground and appear as they were during the height of the conflict of the Second World War. They are powerfully atmospheric. Churchill often spent the night here in a cramped little bedroom so he could be fully and immediately informed as the conflict developed. You might find the experience quite chilling; it doesn’t take much imagination, for example, to feel the sense of urgency in the map room where men and women charted the advance of enemy bombers. There is a small shop and a canteen where you can have some refreshment before rejoining the 21st century.
