Mary Smith was head teacher at Maidstone Grammar School for Girls during the Second World War and tells the moving and sometimes amusing story of how they coped with teaching the children while air raids and dogfights took place in the skies above.
Her talk is illustrated with pictures from the war diary of the school’s art teacher Helen Keen.
