Fifteen Dorking & District u3a members came together at an event in the town’s library to celebrate the power of storytelling in past cultures and our present society.
The event was hosted by Hilda Burden, who regaled us with a spooky tale about the Pixham Ghost; Jackie Rance, who retold Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in just 50 words; and Pat Smith, who closed the session with everyone describing ‘my first love’ in just a sentence.
The star of the show, however, was Maggie Power, an experienced storyteller who recaptured the magic of Scheherazade’s tales with her coat of many colours.
We hope that this is the first of many meetings at the library.
