While visiting the Lightbox in Woking this month I came across a series of murals depicting the lockdown experiences of the local community. The idea of the ‘Covid Chronicle’ came to artist Wendy Bliss during the lockdown to make a ‘separately-and-together’ global community-based art installation consisting of textile panels created by artists and amateurs alike.
The display features panels stitched together into blocks of four, creating a 21st-century ‘Bayeux Tapestry’ that depicts the pandemic experiences of many different people. The project is in aid of MIND and will eventually go on tour. Something to look out for.
