Our chairman Doreen Raine writes:
As a member of the U3APlus working group, I have just received some draft documents which are being prepared for the new U3APlus website. (The U3APlus initiative is a Third Age Trust Initiative to help support and advise U3As on how to ensure that members with impairments or disabilities can access all learning and activities within their U3As.)
These documents have made me realise that, despite organising the recent Development Day for the Surrey U3A Network entitled ‘Keeping Everyone Welcome’ which focused on various disabilities, I know little about our own difficulties and disabilities in Dorking & District U3A.
In order to help us set our house in order, I would be very grateful if you would tell me about any accessibility difficulties you are aware of in our U3A, whether due to hearing, sight or mobility loss. It would also be very helpful to know whether a particular problem is preventing someone taking part in an activity we offer.
