The Wine Appreciation group enjoyed a lively and head-scratching quiz last week washed down with three wine tastings and plenty of cheese and olive oil dipping. Questions ranged from “what is a cellar rat?” to technical questions on how wine is made, matters of wine geography and how baboons nearly ate enough of the South African grape crop in 2010 to badly damage production. Happily, each question was given with five possible answers so the teams had a sporting chance!
With meetings covering a wide range of wine-related topics the group has much to look forward to in the coming months. Any would-be members should contact Geoff Saunders at tallship@eircom.net.
