Members turned out in their finery for the 25th anniversary dinner at Betchworth golf club on Saturday.
Despite gloomy weather the evening was a great success with everyone having a chance to chat and catch up with friends in the bar which overlooks the golf course, before they enjoyed a buffet dinner.
One diner, Diana Garland, who is a member of the mahjong group, said: “Great food, and I loved the venue – must remember this for the future. Those who didn’t come don’t know what they missed.”
This was echoed by Elizabeth Holmes, group leader for bridge and Upwords. She said: “The venue was beautiful, the food excellent and the company great! It was a pity that more members of the D&D U3A didn’t attend – they missed a good evening.”
The buffet included ham and roast beef, fresh salmon and prawns and a range of salads. Desserts were lemon cheesecake, raspberry roulade, fresh fruit and chocolate mousse. Our committee had provided a bottle of red wine and one of white on each table.
Chairman Phyllis Hughes said: “It was a wonderful evening and the only thing missing was some sunshine on the balcony. My thanks, as always, to the committee for organising this lovely event.”
