Twenty people who have recently joined Dorking U3A had a chance to meet committee members when they attended a welcome morning at the Lincoln Arms this week. They were given the chance to suggest new interest groups and to hear about the range of activities that the U3A, both nationally and locally, has to offer.
Chairman Phyllis Hughes said: “In the last few months we have had nearly 50 people join our U3A, which now stands at 622 members. This is well above the average for U3As nationally, which is about 375.
“It was a great opportunity to welcome everyone and tell them about the many benefits of joining the U3A. Many of them had excellent suggestions for new groups, which the committee will investigate to see if there is sufficient interest to launch new ones.”
