With the 25th anniversary of Dorking U3A coming up we are starting to plan the coverage we can give this special year.
Already we are interviewing original members of our U3A and hearing their stories of what appealed to them and why they have remained so loyal over the years.
There must be many others we don’t know about who have interesting tales or comments from their time with us – and we would like to hear from you. What was it like back in the 1990s when you first joined? What are your memories of the U3A, Dorking and the groups that were on offer? Or perhaps you just want to say why you belong and what it has given you over the years. Why not send a message for the website for the anniversary?
All these contributions and more will be welcome. We want to know what you find worthwhile about Dorking U3A and what we should be celebrating. Perhaps you can suggest who deserves a pat on the back for the unsung work that they do.
We will be running a non-stop programme of stories and features, with pictures, during the entire year. When I worked for a newspaper the Yesteryear column was one of the most popular we produced, so we all know how great it is to remember the old days.
Just email your stories and pictures to chairman@dorkingu3a.org.uk or direct to Mike Docker for the website at treasurer@dorkingu3a.org.uk.
