Enjoying Architecture

The group has continued to flourish. As part of our theme ‘Architecture and the Landscape’, we have been privileged to have had exceptionally interesting illustrated talks given by three of our members - Bill Hill, Peter Shelley and Ken Kelsey - during the winter months.

We have also visited places of special architectural merit such as Painshill Park in Cobham and the Royal College of Physicians in Regents Park, as well as enjoying an excellent walk around Art Deco buildings in the Victoria, Waterloo and Strand areas of London.

From September, we’re hoping to look at unusual architecture. This will include a guided tour of Petworth village plus visits to Albury Park, Wiltons Music Hall at St Katherine’s Dock, and, at Christmas, the Guildford Spike, built in 1906 to house vagrants and low paid workers.

New people are welcome to contact me and to join events where numbers are not limited. I will happily send them a programme with this information.

We meet on the last Monday of the month at 2pm for discussions but in the morning for day outings.
