Our members have a range of backgrounds – some have worked professionally in a field of science or technology, whereas others are simply interested in the exciting and amazing world of science and technology.
Members volunteer to give a talk on a particular area that interests them and this is followed by discussion and questions. Recent talks have included ‘Maths and the Universe’, ‘Recent advances in the science of the brain’ and ‘The history and science of batteries’.
Future talks are planned to include ‘The weather’, ‘Volcanoes’ and ‘Watson and Crick – the story of DNA’.
The group also arranges visits from time to time to places of scientific interest such as the synchrotron science facility at Harwell.
We welcome anyone who has an interest in science and technology and wishes to share it with others.
